Artist as Historian

For at least a century, artists have been drawn to Belvedere and Tiburon to sketch and paint the dramatic beauty of our unique setting by the San Francisco Bay. In doing so, these artists have captured the history of our communities in a fashion more expressive than words or photographs.

Over the past 65 years, the Landmarks Society’s fine art collection has grown to over 100 pieces, featuring works by artists who called our community home, as well as renowned artists from the Bay area and beyond.

This curated exhibit in the Tiburon Town Hall offers a rare opportunity to experience the world through the eyes of these exceptional artists.  Many of the works on display were created in the tradition of en plein air, capturing fleeting moments in time and revealing what drew these artists to our unique locale.

Exhibit Dates: Open now through February 28th.
Location:Tiburon Town Hall foyer and Council Chambers 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday. Co-sponsored by Tiburon Heritage & Arts Commission.
